You Need Not Find A Cure For Everything That Makes You Weak

First of all, I am glad that I am here again with my first post for this month of April after not having been able to blog for quite some time. It feels so good to be able to share my thoughts and insights once again.

Sometimes, I feel that a lot of things run through my mind. Maybe, I am just allowing myself to be drowned in a pool of thoughts which somehow cause me to drift away from reality. These thoughts somehow give me an overwhelming feeling   that often result in a state of bewilderment–I don’t know how else to describe it. I try to look for answers, uncover the truth, and find solutions to whatever I may be feeling and thinking lately.

As I was browsing online, I saw this picture with words that says “You Need Not Find A Cure For Everything That Makes You Weak.” I got struck by these words. I often feel that every time I fall trap into my own weaknesses, I always seek for things that would cure these anxieties.

It’s okay to welcome into our lives the bitterness of things that weakens us. Rather than trying hard to find for cure for things that make us weak, it’s better if we just try to strengthen ourselves and try to look on the brighter side–Perhaps, these things which make us weak would be the same reason that gives us strength to hold on– and I choose to hold on.

Homemade Pizza!!!

I was just taking my time off yesterday strolling around town when I decided to bake pizza for dinner. I suddenly had this crave for pizza so I went to look for a readily-made dough at a local bakery store. Luckily, I found it somewhere nearby and it was very affordable-1 pack with 4 pieces of dough costs 22 pesos or half a dollar.

I then headed straight into the grocery to buy some stuff  for the pizza toppings when I realized that it was already dark. So, I rushed home and surprised Kurty and Ryan that our dinner would be pizza. As expected, they both complained why the heck only pizza for dinner. Well, I was already expecting that kind of reaction from them–the hungry boys need something more than pizza. Oh Well, I only ate pizza for dinner while the boys ate rice and ham, and of course, the pizza.

We had satisfied our hungry palates as we devoured every slice of it. I was absolutely full and I was overly pleased with how my boys enjoyed the pizza I baked.

Banana Blossom (Puso ng Saging) Patties: No Meat, Just 100% Banana Blossom!

Banana Blossom Patties

Lately, I have been preparing veggies (no meat at all) for dinner.  A couple of nights ago, I cooked sauteed bitter gourd and malabar spinach mixed with egg. Usually, I only saute bitter gourd with egg, but I decided to give the dish a little twist by adding malabar spinach or Philippine spinach. In Filipino, we call it “alugbati“. And so, speaking of veggies, I was again in my cooking (experimenting) mood for preparing a healthy dish last night.

I got inspired when I saw a cooking segment in a TV show featuring a healthy alternative to beef burger patties. Instead of using grind beef in making burger patties, banana blossom was used as an alternative.

Locally, banana blossom is commonly known as “puso ng saging” which literally translates as “heart of the banana” or “banana heart”.

So, as I have said, I was ‘experimenting’ in the kitchen again and purely relying on luck. Oh well, if the outcome turned out to be a disaster, I could always justify and say AGAIN, “hey, it’s my first time, you know?”

In cooking Banana Blossom Patties, you’ll need the following:

1 banana blossom (chopped)

1/4 cup flour

2 eggs

cooking oil

3 cloves of garlic (chopped)

1 onion (chopped)

salt and pepper to taste

seasoning (magic sarap)

Of course, peel the banana blossom until what’s left is the part where you will see the lightest shade of the banana blossom. It was somehow tricky for me to determine if I was still peeling the outer skin because I really could’t tell which part goes to the pan and which part goes straight into the trash bag. By the way, last night was my first time to peel and slice a banana blossom–weeeee!

Okay, going back. After chopping the banana blossom into tiny pieces, boil it for few minutes to remove the sap. Then, remove it from the fire and let it cool down for a while. Mix all the ingredients together–flour, eggs, onion, garlic, salt and pepper, and seasoning.

In your frying pan, pour the vegetable oil and wait until it’s hot enough to fry the banana blossom burger patties. When you’re done, you may even make it more delectable by preparing a gravy for your banana blossom patties. In my case, I bought an instant gravy which was sold in a pack. All I did was add hot water into the powdered gravy and mix it until it has the consistency of a sauce.

Banana blossom patty is also great for snack. Instead of the usual beef burger we eat for snacks, why not try this healthy alternative? I am sure your kids will love it too.

coffee, banana, laptop, and Regina Spektor for breakfast

banana, coffee, and laptop for breakfast

I’ts Friday morning again. Days come and go so fast that at the start of the day, you already begin to wonder that’s it’s going to end soon, another break of dawn is coming, and the birth of a new day awaits us–again and again and again…

Before my morning slips away, I might as well enjoy my breakfast with a cup of coffee teamed up with a banana while I do some writing and other stuff online. While doing all these–drinking, munching, and typing, a nice background music from Regina Spektor sets my mood.

Regina Spektor is a very talented music artist–a singer, a songwriter, and a pianist. I think her songs are majestic, her lyrics are captivating, and whenever she writes songs, it’s not always the conventional type of songs we hear from other musicians. I love all her songs. I love her videos. I love her style.

When A Man Blames A Woman, he blames her “BIG TIME”

If a man happens to cheat on a woman, he gets the excuse of “being a man” and somehow manages to escape public scrutiny. Manhood and nature are his alibi–an excuse which a man often gets out clean.

“I was tempted…”I became weak”…”I AM SORRY!” A simple “I AM SORRY” makes a woman’s heart soft. A woman makes all the willingness to excuse his man’s unflattering ways of looking into another woman’s face with his “oh-so-sorry” dramatic lines. It’s ironic that a woman falls weak to his man’s plea after her man falls weak due to his so-called “nature.”

A woman manages to keep her pain long enough just to make amends with the man she feels deeply important to her. Although hurt, she still puts on her smile. Although broken, she keeps mending her wounded spirit. And although shuttered, she lets all bad things pass her way.

But, when a woman makes one false move, a man gives her the worst remarks she could get. Man throws all the blame to his woman making her feel she’s the worst worthless being on earth. Each word cuts her deeply until she’s almost like a shredded piece of trash as good as nothing. He curses his woman like a sinner whose sins are unforgivable and likens her to a stinking whore whose life is totally wrecked and wasted.

When a man say and act this way to his woman, does he ever try looking at himself too and wonder if he’s too clean to pinpoint dirt at his woman? A man hardly accepts a broken ego–the more if it’s his own woman who causes it. When a man blames her woman, he blames her BIG TIME!

If you could go back in time and relive one day of your life, which would you choose?

Would you go back in time and relive one day of your life?

I am not quite sure why this question seems so difficult to answer. Probably, it’s because of the countless memories and events in my life that make it hard to pinpoint one particular day to relive if I’d go back in time. In this journey called life, I live and seek happiness and contentment, however, it does not always end that way–disappointment, mistakes, and anxieties are also part of my journey. Do I wish to relive one particular day in my past? one particular day that I regret and relive to make it right? And if I do, will it change the course of my life in the future? Will I be the same “me” again in the future if I try to relive and alter one day of my life in the past? I do not know for sure.

Earlier today, I asked a friend to answer this question, “If you could go back in time and relive one day of your life, which would you choose?” Honestly, I was just expecting a shallow answer–just another blatant response from a sinister who thrives well in sarcasm.

Now, I am again reminded that good answers and brilliant ideas do not only come from people wearing eyeglasses with thick books on either hands. He answered by saying that he would rather not relive his past  because he’d prefer not to feel and experience pain all over again. He said that in reality if you go back in time, you will hurt so much twice because you will see dead loved ones in the past and you will know when they will go away.

So, If you could go back in time and relive one day of your life, which would you choose?

The BackyardiCATS

I don’t know exactly where these cats came from but they have been with us for quite some time. Actually, there are more than five cats living in our backyard but they usually come and go. These cats know exactly what to do every time I open the back door. They would rush near the door and make some noises–meow! meow! meow! It makes them excited whenever they hear the squeaking sound of the plate. For them, it signals that there is food on the way. Oh well, just some left overs and there’s not much for each of them. So, it’s a battle of the fastest, and the fastest cat gets the food, yum!
We haven’t really thought of giving them names but I think the black cat’s name is Batman, and that’s according to my son, Kurt.

Near my aunt’s house, there are piles of boxes and stuff, and these cats have somehow made this area a place where they can just sleep and relax. Just take a look at the photo above. The cat seems so comfortable resting  just like lazy Garfield.
